The Robot Pulse
As a kid, I always knew I was meant to create, to build. I was always inventing; tinkering with technology. Growing up as the son of a contralto mother, music was always nearby.
Somewhere along the way, it became obvious to me that I would merge my love of technology with my love of music.
I have to write constantly. Otherwise, I worry I’m being lazy and that makes me anxious. Music is my creative outlet, my counsellor and my spaceship.
Influences
One of my earliest memories is of watching grainy images of the Apollo moon landings. It was a vision of the future that has stayed with me ever since. Combined with a love of technology, those visions infuse my music and influence my artistic choices.
Music is something that transcends language. It’s a force bigger than we could ever comprehend, capable of transporting us from one dimension to the next.
My influences include many of the greats, notably those who have been notorious for taking bold risks – such as Killing Joke, Ultravox, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Ben Watkins to name a few. This affinity for risk-taking shows in my music, and allows me to fuse influences of trance, Goan psy and techno. While the word ‘melting pot’ gets loosely thrown around a lot, there’s a certain singularity about the formula that keeps me coming back for more.
